What type of sugary snack you consume may influence its effect on your health, as indicated by a recent study.
Sweetened beverages were linked to a higher risk of developing cardiovascular health issues compared to confectioneries such as pastries, stated lead study author Suzanne Janzi, a doctoral candidate in nutritional epidemiology at Lund University in Sweden, in an email.
The research, published on Monday in the journal Frontiers in Public Health, examined nearly 70,000 Swedish individuals regarding their diet and lifestyle from 1997 to 2009. Their occurrences of cardiovascular disease – including strokes, heart attacks, and heart failures – were gathered from national health registries until 2019, according to the research.
