Anchoring the lower level of Bloomingdale’s Collage food hall is Mah Jong’s, where chef Mike Doctulero (those loyal to Scott’s Seafood are familiar with him) and chef de cuisine Mateo Lopez (formerly at Taco Maria) have recently extended dining hours to feature a tiki brunch. À la carte entrees incorporate familiar flavors like grilled fish tacos and Asian chicken salad, but consider the shrimp cake Benedict and pulled pork pancakes for a unique twist on weekend meals.
Mah Jong’s inviting main dining room keeps onlookers from interrupting your dining experience. Its “outer” seating area highlights striking features, paying homage to the restaurant’s name. On my last few visits, I was seated at the bar, which provides plenty of elbow space and the option to order items from the same menu as the dining rooms to enjoy alongside a cocktail.
